Capilano Suspension Bridge

Originally built in 1889 by the Scottish civil engineer, George Grant Mackay, Capilano Suspension Bridge is the oldest and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver. Stretching 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River, the bridge offers a squirrel’s view of a thriving coastal forest. Originally the bridge was made of hemp rope and cedar planks but today it has been carefully constructed of reinforced steel. Using custom-engineered steel cables and through regular inspection, the authorities ensure that the bridge does not harm the Douglas fir trees.

Be ready to enjoy a unique blend of adventure, history and culture when you make your way across this famous landmark of Vancouver and refresh your breath in the cedar-scented rainforest air. You can even feel your pulse speeding up, the moment you imagine stepping onto the swaying planks of Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Treetops Adventure
is the newest attraction to this wide twenty-seven acre park. Take a walk high in trees with guided nature tours. Its seven suspension bridges through the evergreens take you up to the height of 100 feet above the forest floor.

First Nations carving demonstrations at Totem Park
Capilano’s adventurous tour includes the tradition to place totem poles (story poles) on the grounds at Capilano Suspension Bridge. Totem Park is the proof of those local First Nations whom Mac MacEachran invited in 1930 to place their story poles. Those interesting colorful totems are still preserved and put to display in the same old condition in which they were received there. To relive these precious moment, capture them in your camera at the Totem Park and with the Capilano tramps

Entertainment on the way
Although the surrounding and thrilling experience of walking through the lush green forest would get you a moment of boredom, there is also a high kicking and fast strumming when the Pioneer Players hit the stage! Moreover, guests too are encouraged to sing along and join in the entertainment. Make your kids enjoy the unique forest encounter with the Kids’ Rainforest Explorer program and Living Forest exhibition.
